Chainsaw Frame

Not my finest photo but you can see what I did.
These are old chain saw chains mounted to a wood frame. It is for my hubby's garage. He has old pinups that I will mount into the frame and set up in his work area. It was a challenge to make as some of them are still very sharp.
But I only cut my fingers twice .

Beaded flower

Create a colorful Flower pattern using seed beads and craft wire.
Courtesy of Bead Studio

BEADED FLOWER
Sculpt this flower from beads & wire. Once made the uses are endless! For wearable art you can create a brooch, a centerpiece for a necklace or on a barrette. For the home, a napkin ring, a candle or a curtain. Let your imagination go!
Materials:

- Four yds 28g craft wire, cut in 1 yd pieces
- Assorted seed beads (11/0, delicas, 3-cut, hex or charlottes)
Choose colors that blend well in a variety of finishes to give texture to the flower.
- Twelve 4mm round or firepolish beads
- One 6mm bead

Step 1 - Slide 3 seed beads onto a piece of 1 yd wire. Thread end of wire back through 2 of the beads, pulling both ends to create a small loop of beads in the center of the wire.

Step 2 – Add 3 more seed beads on one end of the wire and thread the other end of wire through the seed beads in the opposite direction. Pull gently being careful to work out any kinks in the wire as you see them developing.

Step 3 – Continue this process to build the petal. The pattern we used is 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 6, 5, 5, 4, 4, 3, 2. You can develop your own pattern through experimenting with different combinations.

Step 4 – Add one bead to each of the wires, then start building the next petal, using the pattern in the reverse order. Try using a different color or type of bead for each petal to add interest and texture to the flower.

Step 5 – To end the petal, thread wire back through a few of the beads, twist around once or twice and snip the ends.

Step 6 – Repeat Steps 1 through 5 to create 2 more sets of petals. You will need three set to complete 1 flower.

Step 7 – Cut the last piece of wire into 4 equal pieces (approx. 9" ea).

Step 8 –Thread one of the 4mm beads onto the wire and twist the wire to anchor the bead in the center.

Step 9 – Separate the wires, add a bead to one wire and twist several times. Continue until you have 4 beads on each wire. Repeat until you have 3 pieces finished.

Step 10 – With the one remaining wire slide the 6mm bead onto the wire and fold in half and twist. Take all the wires and thread through the center of the petals. Twist or braid and coil all the wires to anchor.

Fancy Coffee Filter Corsage

Thanks to AmazingMoms for this idea!

Create them this unique and beautiful Fancy Coffee Filter Corsage that can last years.

All you need are:
•3 Coffee filters
•1 Pipe Cleaner
•Acrylic or Watercolor Paint
•Paint brush
•Scissors
•Ribbon
Hot Glue Gun
•Optional Embellishments: doilies, felt balls, broken jewelry, decorative paper

To create, simply follow these steps:
1.Start with 3 coffee filters.

2.Flatten them out with your hand.

3.Fold the filters like a fan. One fold towards you, one away, until you reach the end.

4.Once you have your folds all done, cinch the center with a pipe cleaner.

5.Then gently, open up each “petal” one by one.

6.The next step involves paint. Choose any color or colors of acrylic or watercolor paint, that you want the edges to be.

7.Water the paint down as much as you can, while still retaining the color.

8.Then slowly drag your brush along the edges, and watch the watery paint bleed onto the filter petals. This is my favorite part…

9.Next, cut off the ends of your pipe cleaner, so that you can hot glue a ribbon on to the back, to serve as your wrist tie.

10.The next part involves any creativity and imagination you want to incorporate into your corsage. Use papers, doilies, ribbons, felt balls, bits of broken jewelry or anything you wish, to embellish your corsage… I used wrapping paper for leaves and I hot glued doily edges here and there for extra frill. I used hot glue for this entire project. Make sure not to let children use a hot glue gun without adult supervision.

Wondering Fish

While strolling through the art section in Sisters Oregon a few weeks ago we came across this marvelous item.
I have done a little work in metal but nothing as fantastic as this metal fish.
Look closely at this marvel of patience and skill.
I would love to own this beauty and display it on the table my hubby made but alas it is 2,500 dollars well worth the time and skill, but way out of my tiny art budget.
One can always dream and there are always pictures.
Enjoy the marvel of the metal fish.

When I was very young I would watch my mother's friend who made beautiful cloth dolls and dreamed of making my own dolls one some day. After growing up, getting married and moving to UK, I was able to make my dream come true. With the help of many Internet doll making friends and on line classes as well as taking classes with some of the wonderful doll artists from and in America, I have been able to develop my doll making skills. Yard Updates Wisteria and Strawberry

This has become almost a weekly update.
We have moved onto the Wisteria and Strawberry Bed.
Rock now crosses the front of the deck so there will be now more mud into the house.
Hubby is working on the trenches for the French drains on this side of the yard. We had gutters put on the house and need deeper trenches on this side of the house. June 13 2010

The benches and cover for the deck will have to wait till next year.
I have almost used my whole garden budget for the year.

Christmas in June

Well it's not Christmas but these little fairy  ornaments are so cute I thought I would share.
These were sent to me years ago.
Materials needed:

Aleene's® Platinum BondTM Glass & Bead Slick Surfaces Adhesive
Miscellaneous
Acrylic paint: pink, red and black
Bead, large round red
Brush, small
Chenille stem
Christmas ball ornament, 1” and 3”
Cup or bowl, shallow
Micro beads, silver
Needle and thread
Plastic bead, large green flower shape
Seed beads
Silk flower, large white daisy
Silk ivy, small

Instructions
For best results, please read all instructions before beginning project. Refer to photo for color and design placement.
1. Remove hangers from ornaments.
2. Paint a circle of pink acrylic paint on the small ball and let dry. Mix a small amount of red into the pink to make cheek color and add to face.
3. Add a red mouth and black eyes.
4. Pour micro beads into shallow cup.
5. Squeeze a small dot of adhesive onto large ball and dip into micro beads. As the beads adhere to the glue, press with finger to flatten and re-dip to fill in. Repeat this process one dot at a time, covering the bottom half of the ball with dots. Let dry.
6. Add a hanger with the chenille stem by making a loop and gluing across top and around neck of ornament. Glue in place and let dry.
7. Pull apart the daisy and discard any plastic parts. Use two layers of the largest daisy petals and cut a hole large enough to fit over the neck of the ornament. Glue into place. Let dry. Glue ivy leaves under petals.
8. Use the small petals from the center of the flower to make hair, turning one upside down on top of head, and then two right side up. Hold in place until glue is set. Add green flower bead and red round bead to the center of the top petals. Let dry.
9. Glue head in place and let dry.
10. String seed beads onto thread about 1-1/2” and wrap around neck and glue in place.

This year I think I will try the chiffon flowers to make a more delicate look.

1940 Knitted Sock Pattern

I do not knit but mother made almost all my clothes.
She passed away a few years ago and I still have several pairs of her hand made sock.
They are lovingly  tucked away and saved as lost treasures and fond memories.
I do have all her old patterns and books and share one of my favorites with all of you who do knit.

Cable sock with French heel.
